Chambered for the popular and economical .22lr cartridge, the SU22 series is designed for beginners, target shooting, plinking or small game hunting and accepts most AR-22 magazines. Models differ mainly in forend and stock. A standalone firearm and not a conversion, the SU22 series is based on its big brothers, the SU16 series of rifles, and shares many of their characteristics. The SU22 series is an excellent choice for that beginner in your family. Smooth As we all know, the .22lr cartridge is a great place to start. This variant of our SU line is perfect for that new shooter in your family that might be a little recoil shy. Its smooth action combined with intuitive controls also makes it ideal for learning the fundamentals of weapon manipulation and safety. Modular Out of the box, the SU22 offers the same magazine storage stock as the SU16 and a compact forend with Picatinny-style rail as a standard. The stock/grip assembly is compatible with any of the SU16 models. It also comes with adjustable iron sights over a 16″, threaded barrel and a Picatinny style top rail for mounting your favorite optic.
